How the Construction Industry Can Better Use Recycled Building Materials

In 2019, the global rate of consumption of materials was 100 billion tons and is projected to reach 175 billion tons in 2050. The buildings and construction sector is responsible for 36% of final energy demand globally, representing 39% of energy and process related emissions. The largest volume of waste currently comes from the demolition of buildings, with only ⅓ of construction waste being reused.
