Developers break ground on $150M Los Angeles mixed-use project

Live-work-play developments are still springing up in major cities, but those who are in the surrounding communities are looking to bring that urban walkability to their neighborhoods as well.

In October, another Los Angeles–area developer, Westfield Corp., proposed replacing an existing downtown West San Fernando Valley shopping mall with a $1.5 billion mixed-use complex called Promenade 2035. Westfield said the project would offer up 1,500 residential units, office, retail, restaurants, a 1-acre park, two hotels and an event arena.
